Pen and Paper Games is a forum designed for PnP gamers to find groups for online play. They recently teamed up with Obsidian portal in a collaborative game matching effort and are now in concert considered to be one of the top game matching sites available.
d20 Pathfinder SRD is currently the top unofficial reference to the recently released Pathfinder update to the 3.5 Dungeons & Dragons ruleset. Modeled after the d20srd.com site, it is a friendly and useful reference to the latest in "3.75" Pathfinder SRD material. This site is updated as fast as, and on occasion faster, than the official PRD site.

  • [New] Easy method of translating Gametable into new languages. Still working through the code to extract all hardcoded English.

    Gametable 2.0.RC5 released

    Monday 25 May 2009

I had hoped to get this release out earlier this weekend, but some major issues cropped up with the code in final testing that had to be resolved. As far as I can tell, the changes I made at the last minute are working as intended, but there may be more unexpected bugs cropping up from the edits. Please report anything new that you come across as you test this release.

On another note, older maps will work with RC5 without issue. Older Gametable clients will communicate with it as well, but they will not benefit from the code changes and may experience new issues when trying to communicate with RC5. It is highly recommended that all users upgrade to RC5 before attempting to play a game to prevent potential desyncs or crashes of the older clients.

  • [Fix] Transparent pixels no longer register as part of a pog when hovering/clicking. (Introduced in RC4)

  • [Fix] The hit maps for rotated pogs now register correctly for all rotation increments and across all instances of that same image.

  • [Fix] Further lag reduction with oversized pogs/underlays (over 4000 x 4000 pixels). Though such large images still produce noticeable lag.

  • [Change/Fix] Semiprivate rolls fixed and method of determining public, private, or semiprivate rolls changed to be more intuitive.

  • [Change] Significant code changes to hitmaps and hit tests in pog.java and pogtype.java.

  • [Change] Some additional minor code documentation and cleanup in files.

  • [Change] Minor changes to some pog related coding to improve performance. No obvious changes user side.

    Gametable 2.0.RC6 released

    Thursday 18 June 2009

This release addresses several annoying issues as well as a few more major ones. Over all, this release makes Gametable a bit more stable and easier to use. This release has been made possible by Lotharious, who has contributed greatly to finding and fixing problems with the code base.

  • [Fix] Continued changes to pogs and underlays to further improve the system.

  • [Fix] Fixed issue with players disconnecting and still showing connected.

  • [Fix] Chat system lag and potential for program crash fixed. All chat features from earlier versions work.

  • [Fix] Rotation issues at various map zooms have been fixed.

  • [Fix] Issue with save files still saving with wrong extension fixed.

  • [Change] Pogs now sorted alphabetically in the pog library without regards to capitalization.

  • [New] A menu option has been added to lock or unlock all pogs and underlays on the map.

  • [Change] Rearrangement of files and packages within the Gametable project to bring them more in list with an MVC architectural pattern.

    Gametable 2.0.RC4 released

    Monday 20 April 2009

A portion of code being used in part of the new chat system included with RC3 utilized a method introduced in Java 6. Since many of our users haven't yet updated to the most recent version, they were unable to get Gametable to launch. This particular code has been changed to the older constructor method to make Gametable compatible with the older java versions. I have also done a significant bit of work reorganizing and cleaning in a PogType to make it easier to read and work with as well as a few other minor bug fixes.

  • [Fix]Chat system now works with older java versions.

  • [Fix]Error introduced with the line and box tool changes in RC3 failing to give accurate distance measurements has been fixed

  • [Fix]Minor lag improvements by removing the calls to the rotate and flip functions for pogs in the pog library, which are never rotated or flipped. This speeds up the load time, especially on large pogs or large libraries.

  • [New]Added documentation to the code which adds the .grm extension to save files.

  • [Change]Code cleanup in PogType.java.

    We're back! Gametable 2.0.RC3 released

    Sunday 19 April 2009

It's been just slightly over a year since our last release. Unfortunately, not much has happened during this time. We had some issues with the site and lost our forum backups from the past couple of years. Our site has moved to a wiki format for ease of update and the ability for Gametable users to add useful articles, but we will still be maintaining the forums for discussion and general messages.
Rizban, who usually administers the site, has been without internet for almost a full year as well. Thankfully though, he's back in business, and so are we. We have a bit of new talent working on the project and a few fixes from the community, and so we present to you Gametable 2.0.RC3.

  • [New]A side project to do full documentation of Gametable's code has been started, and that work has been included in this release.

  • [New]Maps of any size can be exported to jpeg. This is not limited to screen size and exports the entire map.

  • [Fix]Large pogs show virtually zero lag unless they are rotated, which is still something being worked on.

  • [Fix]Saved maps now automatically have the .grm extension added to them if it is not present.

  • [Fix]Lag associated with chat logs greatly reduced.

  • [Change]Minor code rearrangement and cleanup within files to make it more understandable and easier to work with.
